It’s important that at every meal, including breakfast, you eat protein. You should cut down on eating bread, pasta and other wheat and flour-based products. Protein can be combined with vegetables but a starch should not be included. 

By eating unprocessed foods you are giving your body nutritional fuel. In fact, you should aim at having about 90 per cent of your food comprising of the following: lean protein, and raw or steamed vegetables.

You can eat fruit, but it must be eaten on an empty stomach and must completely digest before the next meal. The best types of fruit are the low sugar, high fiber fruits like raspberries, blue berries, plums, pears and apples. Avoid fruit juice because it has been boiled also known as pasteurized and spikes blood sugar. 

Never eat nuts with your piece of fruit. The combination of these two food categories together slows weight loss. Eating nuts alone on am empty stomach is a great snack. 

You should cut out dairy products entirely, especially cow’s milk. This will greatly speed up weight loss.

Alcohol and weight loss do not go hand in hand. Drastically cut back, or better yet, eliminate alcohol from your diet. Choose to have a healthy smoothie instead.

Use olive oil or coconut oil instead of vegetable oils like corn, safflower and sunflower.

Avoid eating fried food –and eating white meat is far more nutritional and has less fat than dark meat.

Be very mindful of the amount and types of fat that you are taking in with your food. Bad fats are in margarine and fried foods. The best good fats are Omega-3, which is found in fish and flaxseed oil. You can eat fish at least three times a week, but remember, no fried fish.

You should drink at least eight ounces of water each day for every 20 pounds you weigh. Whenever you feel hungry, have a glass of water. Drinking a glass of water before meals will help from over eating.
